Born and raised in Vero Beach Florida, James Steele started his work in radio and production at 14. He was one of the first in the world to launch a fully produced music and talk internet radio station via live365.com from his bedroom.

In 2003 James accepted his first full time position as Imaging Director and On Air Talent at Treasure and Space Coast Radio in his hometown. Two years later Steele was offered a position at Clear Channel Radio in Melbourne, Fl. Where in his first year was awarded Clear Channel Employee of the year.  For the next three years he took on various positions and roles until accepting a position within the company as Assistant Program Director & Music Director for a Top 40 radio station in Greensboro NC.

In 2007 James followed his radio dream to Norfolk, Virginia Beach VA. In the coming years Steele was awarded the best production and voiceover talent in the region from the Association of Broadcasters, he also received accolades based on Community Service, and Branding Campaigns. In the coming years Steele was promoted to Program Director of WROX-FM. Over the next two years he and his team would be the first to play many of today’s popular artists before any station in the country, and sometimes even the world, including but not limited to Twenty One Pilots, Fun, Imagine Dragons, X Ambassadors, American Authors, Bastille, The 1975, The Last Bison, The Lumineers, and more.

Following WROX, Steele hosted the number 1 afternoon show at NOW 105 (WNOH), and programmed at iHeartRadio in Norfolk VA. He was then hired by CBS Radio Orlando's 101.9 AMP Radio as On Air Talent and Production Director. Steele's Night Show was rated number one right before the CBS nationwide layoffs which came in the fall of 2015. Those layoffs led to his departure.

Now enters Phil Becker, the VP of Programming for Alpha Media whom reached out to Steele shortly after being laid off. "From the moment I spoke to Phil, I knew I wanted to be a part of the Alpha Media family." In October 2015 Steele joined Alpha Media as On Air Talent for WXYK 107.1 The Monkey in Gulfport Mississippi.

Steele has produced, and voiced multiple stations across the country including; KROX-FM, KLBJ-FM, KGSR-FM, WROX-FM, WNOB-FM, KBPA-FM, WZNR-FM, WUSH-FM, KSXY-FM, RXP on Jelli, WMXA-FM, WJHM-FM, WBVD-FM, WMMB-AM, WOMX-FM, and more.
